Cheshire Kitchen Revamp
See Kitchenality’s case study of a recent kitchen revamp project in Cheshire.
Jean and Ken were so impressed by the German kitchen they’d bought 25 years ago that they wanted another. Kitchenality’s Rempp German kitchens offered the perfect style and value for money. They warmed immediately to designer Tracy Mackey at Kitchenality. Tracy interpreted their brief with precision so Jean and Ken finally had their dream kitchen. Here’s how:
The brief was to modernise the existing kitchen, which was a traditional U shape with impractical corner units and open shelves that didn’t fully utilise the space.
The main priorities were to replace the kitchen window above the sink with patio doors; incorporate an island unit; use the existing Liebherr fridge freezer and maximise work-surface.
The new kitchen had to be suitable for everyday living for a couple but also have space to accommodate visits from the extended family with grandchildren.
Rempp’s Faro in white matt lacquer and Lami textured laminate in slate were chosen finishes. This scheme combined a contrast of textures and colour in order to create a contemporary and timeless feel to the kitchen. Recessed handles were used to keep the furniture streamlined and increase a sense of space. Recessed lighting was designed into the scheme because it is functional and unobtrusive.
Kitchenality recommended a Karndean Design Flooring, found in-house at Arighi Bianchi home furnishing store, in a complimentary colour. Karndean is practical and warm underfoot.
Tracy paid attention to the detail of the extraction unit. This was built into the ceiling between RSJ’s to be functional and inconspicuous. It was ducted to the external wall because this is the most effective way to neutralise odours.
A stone quartz worktop complimented the scheme because it is modern and practical. Tracy took meticulous care with the slab sizes to avoid unnecessary joints. The result was a great success.
The scheme was project managed by Sarah who was mindful of every aspect and took great care to ensure everything was executed with perfection. This included the new doors, rip out, plumbing, electrics, plastering. The full installation of furniture and appliances were carried out by a professional installer organised in-house.
The new kitchen meets Jean and Ken’s dreams. Patio doors wash the room with light, there’s an island unit with seating area and plenty of work surface. Clever storage replaces the old impractical corner units to maximise space. The much loved Liebherr fridge freezer has pride of place and new appliances – wine cooler, Quooker tap and ovens – make it very functional. All of this has been achieved within the parameters of an existing room. The result is a free-flowing kitchen suitable for cooking and socialising in a modern way.
‘Thank you Kitchenality for designing and installing our super new kitchen. From initial design to completion your attention to detail, professionalism and customer service was absolutely excellent.
