Kitchen Renovation Project Altrincham

A kitchen renovation project in Altrincham called for Kitchenality’s expertise. The kitchen was central to the development of the rest of the home.  Because of this, the clients were intent to get that right before embarking on other areas.

The kitchen was to be part of a large living and dining area. This is on trend and therefore, it’s the way most people like to live today. There was a large room with an angled wall and plenty of space to embrace all that the clients desired.

The Brief

The clients wanted a modern kitchen with sharp, clean lines. It was to be simple and seamless with ample storage so that surfaces would be free of clutter. The flow of the room was crucial. However, it was important to ensure that the spaces kept their own identity but were connected.

The Design

Tracy Mackey, Design Consultant, created an angled island unit to compliment the angled wall. It was an elegant aesthetic. In addition, it provided a method of keeping the main work area of the kitchen free from obstruction. The base units were finished in an oak-look grey. This gave the scheme an anchor and made it feel solid. In contrast, the wall units were a glossy warm grey to add lightness and be reflective.  The worktop was a warm shade of corian. Its’ contours were curved because this lent softness and tactility to the kitchen. Also, a smoky grey mirror splash back was installed because this gave depth. Split face tiles added a little glamour. Finally, doors were handle-less to keep the look pared back and simple.

A small drinks-making zone was created at the side of the kitchen. The chef of the house likes full uninterrupted command of the main work zone! He was delighted with this idea.

Flow

The floor was the same throughout the whole area in order to help maintain continuity. This was provided by our flooring partners Karndean, found within Arighi Bianchi. It was a warm grey in a large herringbone pattern and designed in proportion to the size of the room. Thereby, the kitchen stayed connected to the dining and living areas. In addition, a contemporary style was maintained throughout.

The Result

The clients were delighted with the result of their renovation project.  It was a light airy space with a modern, uncluttered feel.  Just what they wanted.
